Roy B. Love Roy B. Love, 86, of Norristown, died peacefully in his Schwenksville home, surrounded by loved ones on October 22, 2009. Mr. Love is survived by his wife of 63 years, Elizabeth (Quinn) Love.
Mr. Love lived a full and rich life. He served as a Naval Pilot during World War II. He then attended Ursinus College where he played for the 1946 championship basketball team, for which he was inducted into the Ursinus Athletics Hall of Fame in 2008. He later moved to Bristol, CT, where he opened his own business and raised his family of six.
After 16 years, he moved to Lansdale, PA, where his 20 years of exemplary service for the Hatfield Township Municipal Authority prompted them to dedicate the Roy B. Love Administration building in 1989, the year he retired. Mr. Love was an avid outdoorsman, an able gardener, a skilled athlete, a committed citizen, and dedicated to his Catholic faith.
In addition to his wife, his six children and their families survive him, Florence Chapman and husband, Bill, of Mohnton; Patricia Johnson and husband, Bill, of Schnecksville; Cathleen Love of Storrs, Conn.; Marybeth Love and husband, Michael, of San Francisco, Calif.; Roy Love and wife, Cindy, of State College, and Timothy Love and wife, Jeannie, of Woodstown, N.J.
Together with Mrs. Love, he was the bedrock of the Love family, which he bound so tightly together through the force of his unconditional love. He believed that his family – including his four daughters, two sons, 19 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and counting – was his greatest blessing and achievement. They will all miss him profoundly, and will strive to continue and further strengthen the legacy of family unity and service that were his greatest gifts.
