Ruth E. White Wagner, 86 of Blanchard, passed away Wednesday, September 28, 2011. She was born in Beech Creek on December 3, 1924, the daughter of the late Raymond J. and Reida P. Confer White.
She was an active member of the Blanchard Church of Christ. Ruth was a graduate of Lock Haven High School and the Julliard School Of Music. She served as Professor of Music at Milligan College in Johnson City, Tenn., where she directed a concert choir that toured extensively throughout the Eastern and Midwest United States. In 1956 she married the Rev. Gerald Wagner, and subsequently served with him at pastorates in Flemington, Pa., Wichita, Kan. and Howard, Pa. In 1965 she returned to Blanchard, where she raised two daughters, directed the youth and adult choirs at the Blanchard Church of Christ, performed often as a vocal soloist, and taught private piano and voice lessons.
She was preceded in death by her brother Russell, and is survived by two daughters; Alice and Reldalee Wagner, a niece; a nephew; a grand-nephew and two great-grand-nephews.
Funeral arrangements are being made through the Kader-Neff Funeral Home in Howard; both viewing and her funeral service will be held at the Blanchard Church of Christ. Her visitation will be held Sunday, October 2, 2011 from 6-8p.m. and on Monday, October 3, 2011 from 10:00-11:00a.m., following by her funeral service at 11:00a.m. Burial will be at the Schencks Cemetery in Howard Twp. After the interment there will be a memorial dinner held at the church for the family and friends.
