Ruth P. Ziff, 87, of State College, died Sunday, November 3, 2013, at Pine Castle at Brookline Village, State College.
Born December 19, 1925, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late Phillip and Rebecca (Azen ) Harris. On February 14, 1948, she married Saul Ziff, who preceded her in death on October 3, 1990.
She is survived by three children, Marilyn Z. Kutler and her husband, Ira Silberman, of Philadelphia, Barbara Ziff and her husband, Jeff Ratner, of State College and Theodore L. Ziff and his wife, Nancy, of Boalsburg; eight grandchildren, Benjamin Kutler, Rebecca Kutler and her husband, Daniel Gilgoff, David Silberman, Melanie Ziff and her husband, Joey Musselwhite, Allison Ziff, Shawn Ziff, Leah Ratner and Arielle Ratner; two great-grandchildren, Isaac and Elizabeth Gilgoff. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Harriet Wedner.
Ruth graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Education from the University of Pittsburgh in 1947.
She was a member of the Congregation Brit Shalom and Hadassah. Ruth volunteered at the Philipsburg Library and she was a substitute teacher for the Philipsburg – Osceola School District.
She enjoyed playing bridge, golfing and traveling with her husband.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Centre County Memorial Park.
