Shirley Confer, 76 of Monument, passed away Thursday, September 6, 2012 at her residence. She was born in Blanchard on November 10, 1935, the daughter of the late Donald & Alice Peter Glossner. She married Joseph B. Confer on January 14, 1955 he preceded her in death on July 2004.
She was a graduate of Lock Haven High School class of 53. Shirley was a supervisor at Woolrich where she had worked for 45 years until the plants closing. She was a member of the Monument Church of Christ and Good Sam's Camping Club where she had served as President.
Shirley enjoyed sewing, quilting, ceramics, playing all types of cards and camping with family and friends.
She is survived by one daughter; Debra and husband Gregg Irvin of Beech Creek, one son; Joseph R. and wife Joyce Confer of Beech Creek, three sisters; Vickie Rhoads, Ruth Jackman and Jan Saar, and three brothers; Dick, Bill and Ken Glossner, She was preceded in death by two sisters; Doris Dixon and Phyllis Emenhizer, and four brothers; Keith, Gene, Bob, and Bruce Glossner. She is also survived by five grandchildren; Jason Confer whom she raised, Stacey Shay, April Estrada, Tera Confer, and Jamie Kelly.
Funeral services will be Monday, September 10, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the Kader-Neff Funeral Home, 135 W. Main St., Howard with the Rev. Alan S. Eckenroad officiating. Friends and family will be received Sunday, September 9, 2012 from 6-8-00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Schencks Cemetery in Howard.
