Shirley Yvonne Rishel, 84, died peacefully on April 1, 2014 at Wynwood House in Centre Hall. Shirley was born July 11, 1929 to Rosamond Frank. On December 24, 1950, she was married to Donald “Sparky” Rishel, who preceded her in death. She is survived by her children, Lynnea Bobb (Charles) of Etters, Kevin Rishel (Sharon) of Aaronsburg, Sharon O'Brien (Scott) of New Cumberland, and her son in law, Terry Chestnut of Mechanicsburg. Her daughter, Joan Chestnut, also preceded her in death. Shirley has seven grandchildren; Nathaniel Bobb (Amy) of Camp Hill, Kyle Rishel of Aaronsburg, Gillian Bobb (Aaron Kaminski) and Allison Bobb (Marky) all of Mechanicsburg, Kate Rishel, (Victor Moncebaiz) of Boston, MA and Kelsey and Lucas Chestnut of Mechanicsburg. Also surviving are four great grandchildren, Kobe, Kamden, and Mya Bobb of Camp Hill and Austin Nichols of Halifax.
Shirley was a lifelong resident of Millheim and throughout her life she enjoyed bowling, sewing quilts for all the babies born in the family, going to Grange Fair, and spending time in Poe Valley at the cabins that she and her husband built. Shirley enjoyed spending time with all her family at their homes and on family vacations. She also worked at Watson's 5 & 10, Stover's Furniture, and Hosterman and Stover Hardware, all in Millheim.
Family and friends will be received at St. John's Lutheran Church in Millheim from 10 – 11 am on Saturday, April 5, 2014. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 am with Pastor Julia Sprenkle officiating. Shirley will be laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery in Millheim. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Shirley may be given to St. John's Lutheran Church, Po Box 439, Millheim, Pa. 16854.
