Stanford G. Cook, 80, of State College, died Tuesday, May 22, 2012, at his home.
He was born June 14, 1931 in Elysburg; a son of the late Chester and Florence Campbell Cook.
On September 10, 1960, he married Carole A. Adams who survives at their home in State College.
Mr. Cook served as a radio operator with the U. S. Army during the Korean War.
He graduated from the former Williamsport Technical College, and attended Rider College in Lawrenceville, NJ and the Penn State University.
Early in life while working as an engineer for RCA he served as a project manager for the development and production of the camera that was used on the Lunar Rover in the Apollo Space Program. After coming to State College in 1973 he served as the Vice President of manufacturing at C-Cor Electronics.
Mr. Cook was a member of the State College Presbyterian Church where he served as a deacon. He was also a member of the Quarterback and Tailback Clubs at Penn State. He especially enjoyed tailgating at Penn State Football games.
Surviving in addition to his wife is one daughter Jodi M. Cook of State College; one son Todd R. Cook of State College; one sister, Blendyne Swank (Gilbert) of Elysburg; a brother Chester Cook (Ruth) of Elysburg; a sister in law Joan Conrad (Bill) of Emmaus; a favorite aunt Phyllis Boyer of Elysburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p. m. Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at the State College Presbyterian Church, 132 West Beaver Ave. State College, PA with the Reverend Joel Blunk officiating. A graveside committal service with military honors will be at 10:00 a. m. Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at Centre County Memorial Park. 1032 Benner Pike, State College, PA.
