Steven K. Kutz, 55, of Centre Hall, passed away Friday, April 16, 2010, at his home. Born on Feb. 5, 1955 in Reading, he was the son of the late Kenneth Donald Kutz and Barbara Weand Kutz, who survives in Reading.
On Dec. 24, 1977 in Reading, he married Suzanne Steward, who survives in State College. He was a 1973 graduate of the Reading High School. Steven was a system engineer for Verizon for 33 years until his retirement in 2007. He was a former member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Reading. Steven was also a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge Number 1094, the Pleasant Gap American Legion Post Number 867, Goodwill Beneficial Fire Company, Telephone Pioneers of America, P.S.U. Nittany Lion Club and was an avid Penn State football fan. Steven was also an avid hunter. Steven owned and operated Nittany Ridge Farm in Centre Hall.
In addition to his wife and his mother, he is survived by two daughters, Kelly J. Kutz, of State College and Kimberly N. Kutz, of Carrboro, N.C.; two sisters and three brothers: Kathie Culley, of Leesport, Timothy S. Kutz, of Clarksville, N.J., Debra G. Smith Villarini, of Shoemakersville, and Michael D. Kutz and Andrew M. Kutz, both of Reading. He was loved by his many nieces and nephews, including Kaitlyn and Daniel.
A public visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 20, 2010, at Wetzler Funeral Service Inc., 206 N. Spring St., Bellefonte. The funeral will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, April 21, 2010, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Eric J. Shaferofficiating. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
