Torsten V. Bjalme, Jr. 67, of State College, died Saturday, February 6, 2010, at Mt. Nittany Medical Center at State College.
He was born December 2, 1942 in Philadelphia, PA, a son of Mary Josephine (LeVan) Bjalme currently of Montoursville and the late Torsten V. Bjalme Sr.
On December 14, 1963, he married Mary Ann (Cox) Bjalme who survives at home.
Torsten graduated from Bellefonte High School and attended Penn State University.
He was employed at the Penn State University Libraries system, retiring after 43 years service as an assistant financial officer.
Mr. Bjalme was a member of Faith United Church of Christ in State College. The cornerstone of his immediate and extended family, he loved spending time with family, especially his grandchildren. Christmas was his favorite season and holiday, and he enjoyed making intricate Christmas ornaments. Ranking very high on his list of pleasures was traveling and gardening. In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by a a son Steven Bjalme of Leola; a daughter, Kirsten S. Bjalme-Evans and her husband Michael of Binghamton, NY; three grandchilderen, Sabrina, Holly and Meghan Evans; and four brothers, Phillip I Bjalme and his wife Donna of N. Lauderdale, FL, Richard L. Bjalme and his wife Peggy, and Carl G. Bjalme and his wife Connie all of Bellefonte, and Terry J. Bjalme and his wife Pam of Centre Hall.
In keeping with his wishes, all services will be private at the convenience of the family.
