Virginia Ann Pletcher, 78, of State College, died Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2009, at The Oaks at Pleasant Gap.
Born July 8, 1931, in Forksville, Sullivan County, she was daughter of the late Mark William Burgess and Ruth Elizabeth Heess Burgess. On July 11, 1952, she married Richard Pletcher, who survives.
Virginia was a 1949 graduate of Smethport High School. She was an accounting clerk at Penn State for 28 years. She was a member of Mount Nittany United Methodist Church, the American Legion Auxiliary, Eastern Star and Amaranth, and the Lemont Women's Club. She assisted the Little German Band of State College with their appearances.
Along with her husband, she is survived by a sister, Florabell Terry Watts and her husband, Ralph F., of Hershey; a brother, William M. Burgess and his wife, Joyce, of Forksville; and several nieces and nephews.
There will be no public visitation. A private memorial service will be at Mount Nittany United Methodist Church with Rev. Howard Woodruff officiating. Burial will be in the Hublersburg Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Mount Nittany United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 1167, Lemont, PA 16851. Arrangements are under the care of Koch Funeral Home, State College.
