Virginia M. Holland, 94, of Reinholds, PA,passed away Wednesday, January 25, 2012, at her home. Born December 22, 1917,in Bellefonte, she was a daughter of the late Archie and Mary Irvin. In 1946she married Thomas R. Holland who preceded her in death in 1990.
Virginia was a graduate of Bellefonte High School and had been employed at Penn Optical, in Reading, from which she retired.
She served in the Army during World War II. She was the first woman from Pleasant Gap to join the WACs, and was also the first women member of the Pleasant Gap Legion Aires.
Among her survivors is her companion, Harold J. Heim of Reinholds, PA,sister, Thelma Roadarmel of Pleasant Gap, brother, Jack Irvin of Bellefonte,along with several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, January 28,2012, at 1:00 pm, at Pleasant Gap Lutheran Cemetery, Spring Township, PA,with Reverend Kevin Shock officiating.
