Vivian M. Confer, 90 of Howard, passed away Thursday, June 15, 2017 at the Haven Skilled Rehab and Nursing Center in Lock Haven, Pa.
She was born on September 14, 1926 in East Salem, Pa. the daughter of the late Rev. William & Oma Tobias. She was one of eight girls and two boys in the family. She married Paul E. Confer, Sr. on August 18, 1946. Vivian had three sons; Paul Confer Jr. of Howard, Dr. Leland D. Confer of Howard and Terry L. Confer (deceased) of Howard.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Paul, her son Terry and three sisters. Vivian has five grandchildren, Sean Confer of Howard, Drew Confer of Spokane, Wa., Gina Gramling of State College, Shayne Confer of Berea, Ky., and Ryan Confer of Howard. She also has six great-grandchildren, Katie, Powell, Varrah, Maxwell, Haydn and Elijah with one more on the way.
Together with her husband Paul they owned and operated the Paul Confer Trucking Company and later were partners in the Confer Coal Company.
Vivian was a member of the Howard United Methodist Church and also active in Eastern Star. The highlight of the summer was the Centre County Grange Fair visiting with old friends and family.
Per her request there will be no public visitation and services will be private at the convenience of the family.
