Vivian M. Hammers, 90, a resident of The Hearthside, State College, and formerly of James Creek, died Saturday, May 1, 2010.
She married Edgar V. Hammers Sr., who preceded her in death. She worked at the Random Sample Egg Test in Pennsylvania Furnace, retiring in 1980. She served in the U.S. Army during World War II in England and France.
She is survived by six children: Edgar V. Hammers Jr. (Dixie), of James Creek; Dr. Lynwood W. Hammers (Elaine), of Trumbull, Conn.; Vivian (Hammers) Baumer (George), of State College; Patricia C. Hodgson (Jeffrey), of Pine Grove Mills; Joseph M. Hammers, of James Creek; and Mary A. Hallahan (Kevin), of Huntingdon. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. on Tuesday, May 4, 2010, at the John B. Brown Funeral Home, 417 Washington St., Huntingdon. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 5, 2010, at the Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 524 Mifflin St., Huntingdon.
Memorial contributions in memory of Mrs. Hammers may be made to the Huntingdon Football Booster Club, in care of Larry Isenberg, 1320 Oneida St., Huntingdon, PA 16652 or to Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church building fund, 524 Mifflin St., Huntingdon, PA 16652.
