William Griffith Humphreys, 87 a resident of Foxdale Village, State College, passed away Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at Foxdale. He was born in Delaware County, Pa. a son of the late William & Lizetta Jones Humphreys. He married Jane Louise Ifft on May 25, 1957 in Stroudsburg, Pa., she survives at home.,
Bill was a graduate of Lehigh University with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. He was a field service manager for A.P. Green, a Refractory Brick Installation Company.
He was of the protestant faith. Bill proudly served his country in the Army/Air Corp. during WWII. He was an avid birdwatcher and enjoyed carpentry and woodworking.
Bill is survived by two daughters; Margaret “Meg” Jane Solomon (Stephen) of Sykesville, Md., and Elizabeth “Beth” Humphreys (Stephen Konz) of Seattle, Washington, one son; William “Griff” Griffith Jr. (Fiona) Lawrenceville, NJ., two sisters; Gwen Gray and Sarah Crummer. He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister. He is also survived by eight grandchildren; Catherine, Andrew & Melanie Solomon, Colm, Maeve, Kieran, & Ailish Humphreys, and Maya Konz.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Foxdale Village Auditorium, 500 Marilyn Ave., State College with the Rev. Susan Reisinger officiating. Friends and family will be received from 10:00 till time of service.
