William Huey “Bill” Roberts, Jr., 71, of State College, died Wednesday, March 8, 2017, at Hearthside Nursing Home.
Born August 29, 1945, in Kingston, he was the son of the late William Huey and Laura Rebecca Glahn Roberts, Sr. On September 6, 1969 he married Carol Jean Ashley, who survives.
Also surviving is a daughter, Cindy Boliek and her husband, Chris, of State College; three grandchildren, Michael, Noah and Jacob Boliek, all of State College; a brother in-law, Joseph Ashley and his wife, Joyce, of Plains; three nieces, Jennifer Brennan of Avoca, Johanna and Chrissy Ashley, both of Philadelphia; a great-niece, Jessica Brennan and a great-great niece, Addison Brennan, both of Avoca. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Walter Thomas Roberts and by a brother in-law, Gerard Ashley.
He was a 1963 graduate of Forty Fort High School. He received a Bachelor's degree in Finance from Wilkes University in 1967.
William retired in 2007 as a Defense Contractor Auditor for the Federal Government.
He was a member of the Forty Fort United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Free and Accepted Masonic Lodge #10 of Kingston and a member of the Jaffa Shrine in Altoona. He was an avid Penn State and Pittsburgh football fan and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 10 until 11:30 a.m., on Monday, March 13, 2017, at the Mount Nittany United Methodist Church, 1500 East Branch Road, State College. Funeral service will follow at 11:30 a.m., at the church, with the Reverend Edward Preston officiating.
Burial will be in Boalsburg Cemetery.
