Patricia S. (Pat) Stevens of State College, PA passed away peacefully at home on New Years Day, Wednesday, January 1, 2025. She was born on October 14, 1931, in Bellefonte, PA and in October of last year celebrated her 93rd birthday. Pat was a member of the 1949 graduating class of the State College Area High School.

Pat had a unique career in the healthcare industry where she is best remembered for serving as the Office Manager for Dr. Hugh J. Rogers in Bellefonte for 18 years and upon the retirement of Dr. Rogers, she joined the staff at the Mount Nittany Medical Center as a Business Office Staff Assistant. She retired from the Mount Nittany Medical Center in 2003.

A beloved and proud mother, Pat is survived by her daughter Robin (Dr. Fred Carlin) of State College, PA; son Daniel (Gail) of Old Lyme, CT; son Michael (Wendy) of State College, PA and Calgary, Alberta, Canada; and cherished granddaughter Haley of Burlington, VT. She is further survived by her sisters-in-law Larue Smith and Dotty Smith both of Bellefonte and nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

She is predeceased by her parents, Robert Smith and Jean Sasserman Smith, her brothers, Kenneth F. Smith, Frederick R. Smith and Donald R. Smith, and her niece Tammy L. Smith.

Pat lived a long and adventure-filled life totally devoted to those she loved, both friends and family. She will long be remembered as a textbook awesome mom both to her children and their many friends growing up and those who became like family as her children became adults. She loved her extended family deeply as well, all of her nieces and nephews and their children, too. Her love of music, dancing, family, and friends will be celebrated with lots of stories and laughter at a date later this year.

Many thanks to her team with Mount Nittany Physician’s Group with special thanks to Drs. Jeff Pro and Anthony Cardell who provided exceptional kindness and care. We are also very grateful to her physical therapist, Katerina Ney, who was much more than a therapist and, in fact, became more like a daughter to her. Her treatment went well beyond what was expected and her kindness will never be forgotten.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in her name to the Mount Nittany Medical Center (mountnittany.org) as a thank you to all of the doctors, nurses, and staff who treated her over the years, to Centre County PAWS (centrecountypaws.org) in recognition of her love for animals, or to MusicNow Foundation, Inc., an organization founded by Dan and Gail Stevens dedicated to the support of live music to engage, enrich, and educate youth (see musicnowfoundation.org for donation info).

She was so many things to so many people and will be missed more than is imaginable. To those who loved her, thank you. May she rest in peace.

Funeral and burial services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. in Bellefonte.
