Peter Alan “Pete” Rohrer, 85, of State College, died Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at home.
Born April 20, 1940, in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late John and Bertha Custins Rohrer. On April 2, 1976 he married Linda Cochran, who survives.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Scott A. Rohrer and his wife Janice of Pace, FL, and Bryan K. Rohrer and his wife Barbara of Hawley; two grandchildren, Nicole Cochran and her wife Amanda, and James Peter Rohrer, and one great-granddaughter, Kennedy Cochran. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Stephen Rohrer.
Pete graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in 1958 and earned a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Lehigh University in 1962. Upon graduation, he worked at The Insurance Company of North America and CIGNA Corp. as an underwriter and then a computer programmer. He continued his career in information technology, working his way up to vice president. He retired from CIGNA in 1996.
Pete was a prior President and Board Member of the Penn State Quarterback Club. He enjoyed Penn State sports, golfing, fishing, traveling, and learning about the Civil War. Above all, Pete loved his family.
Private interment will be in Pine Hall Cemetery.
