Reginald Hawkins, 69, of Bellefonte, formerly of Philadelphia, passed away on Monday, October 28, 2024. Born on August 26, 1955, in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Leroy Hawkins and Gloria Lee (Jackson) Jenkins.
Reggie was a 1973 graduate of Gratz High School in Philadelphia. He worked as a building trader in the construction field as well as a mechanic for most of his life, retiring in his early 60s.
He is survived by his two sons, Reginald Hawkins, Jr. and Shannin Hawkins, both of North Carolina, and 23 grandchildren. Also surviving is a brother, Wade R. Jackson of California, and two sisters, Charlotte Vega of California, and Patricia Hammond of Philadelphia.
In addition to his mother and father, he was predeceased by his stepfather, Edker Jenkins, and two brothers, Gregory Hawkins and Mark C. Jackson.
Reggie attended services and was involved with Embracing Truth Ministries in Philadelphia. He brought a sense of warmth and kindness to those whom he interacted with. His family and friends will remember the joy and light he brought into so many lives throughout the years. Family was always front and center for Reggie. He made sure to get family together for special occasions and holidays, to continue to stay involved in the lives of his family, regardless of how far away they lived. He had a laugh that was contagious, a smile that was welcoming, and hugs that were heartwarming. He truly will be missed by all who were blessed to know him.
A public viewing will be held on Thursday, November 7, 2024, from 1:00 – 2:00 PM, at the Rolling Green Cemetery, 1008 West Chester Pike, West Chester, PA. A graveside service will immediately follow with Deacon Thomas G. Matthews officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. in Bellefonte.
