Ricardo “Ric” Veruete, 55, of Bellefonte, passed away on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, while visiting Ocean City, Maryland. Born on October 22, 1969, in Washington D.C., he was the son of Juan Armando Veruete and the late Andrea “Niki” (Caruso) Veruete. On October 20, 1990, he married his beloved wife, Ellen Lynne (Korman) Veruete, who survives at home after sharing almost 35 years of marriage together.
Ric was a 1987 graduate of Bald Eagle Area High School. For over 25 years, he worked in various roles at Penn State University, including in food services and most recently as a stock truck driver for OPP Stores. He was also actively involved with the Teamsters Local 8 Union, serving as a Union Steward for over 15 years, a Trustee for approximately 14 years, and the Recording Secretary/Business Agent for two years.
In addition to his wife, Ellen, he is survived by their daughter, Kierra Drapcho and her husband, Tyler, and two grandchildren, Chayton and Rocco Drapcho. Also surviving is a brother, Juan Veruete, and two sisters, Nina Nicole Veruete, and Michele Veruete (Scott Uncapher).
Ric was a member of Bellefonte Elks Lodge #1094 and the American Legion Post #867 in Pleasant Gap. He enjoyed camping, construction projects, football weekends, embracing the holiday seasons, especially Halloween and Christmas time, and just relaxing with a cold drink or a hot coffee and a good cigar. More than anything, he loved his family and treasured the time that he spent with his grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, June 27, 2025, from 6:00 – 9:00 PM, at Axemann Brewery, 2042 Axemann Road, Bellefonte. Arrangements are under the direction of Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. in Bellefonte.
