Richard L. “Dick” Murray, 81, of State College, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, August 3, 2025, with his devoted wife by his side. Born May 14, 1944, in Brookville, PA, he was the son of the late Alfred and Erma (Pearsall) Murray. On May 5, 1973, Dick married the love of his life, Kathy A. Davidson, at St. John the Evangelist Church in Bellefonte. Their 52 years together were filled with love, laughter, and unwavering support. Kathy survives at home.

Dick was a 1964 graduate of Brookville High School. He worked as a butcher in the meat department at Riverside/BiLo in State College for 37 years, where he was known for his hard work, reliability, and kind demeanor. After retirement, he continued giving back to the community by working as a groundskeeper for Ferguson Township for another 15 years.

A true outdoorsman at heart, Dick found joy in the simple things—riding his motorcycle on quiet roads, tending to his yard with pride, and savoring the peacefulness of nature. He was an avid sports fan who loved NASCAR, hunting, baseball (especially cheering on the Pittsburgh Pirates and Philadelphia Phillies), and both college and professional football. One of his greatest joys was supporting the State High Girls Softball team, where he was a proud and enthusiastic fan.

Dick had a sweet tooth for strawberry ice cream and an even sweeter love for his family. He will be remembered as a loving husband, devoted father and grandfather, and a kind, steady presence to all who knew him.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Kathy; two daughters, Rosalind M. Laudenslager and her husband Kevin of State College, and Theresa E. Murray of Lock Haven; two cherished granddaughters, Alyssa F. McCartney of Philadelphia and Olivia Laudenslager of State College; and one brother, Robert Radaker and his wife Cindy of Brookville.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 15, 2025, at 12 noon at Boalsburg Cemetery with Father George Jakopac officiating.

Dick’s family would like to express their sincere gratitude and appreciation for all the care given by Geisinger at Home, especially Leslie and Tracy and Centre Home Care, especially Lori Meyer.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org.
