Richard Lee Rupert, 83, of Bellefonte, passed away at home on Friday, September 27, 2024. Born on April 3, 1941, in Boggs Township, he was the son of the late Eugene C. and Pearl (McKinley) Miller. On November 17, 1962, he married his beloved wife, Lois A. (Burns) Rupert, who preceded him in death on September 12, 2016, after sharing over 53 years of marriage together.
Richard worked as a painter for Alan Weaver for over 30 years until his retirement.
He is survived by his children, Anna P. Hockenberry (Arthur) of Clarence, Dorothy J. Engleman (Harold) of Milesburg, Ronald L. Rupert of Bellefonte, and James E. Rupert of Beech Creek, 10 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild on the way. Also surviving is a brother, Clifford Rupert, of Pleasant Gap.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by a grandson, Rickey Lee Englert, three sisters and one brother.
An avid outdoorsman, he loved going hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed gambling, especially scratch-off tickets! He enjoyed playing cards, working puzzles, adding more to his ever growing elephant collection. More than anything, he loved spending time with his family and friends. Being with his grandchildren and great grandchildren truly brought him the most joy.
A public viewing will be held on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM, at Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc., 206 N. Spring Street, Bellefonte. Funeral services will begin at 12:00 PM, at the funeral home, with Pastor Doug Conway officiating. Burial will directly follow at Advent Cemetery in Milesburg.
