Rita Jolene Moyer, 66, of Bellefonte, passed away on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at Mount Nittany Medical Center in State College. Born on July 6, 1958, in Bellefonte, she was the daughter of the late Robert J. and Rita M. (Gross) Schiesler. On October 1, 1983, she married her beloved husband, Gilbert E. Moyer, who survives at home after sharing 41 years of marriage together.
Rita was a 1976 graduate of Bellefonte Area High School. She went on to graduate from Williamsport Area Community College with her associate’s degree. She worked at Penn State in the Information and Technology Department for 35 years until her retirement in 2013.
In addition to her husband, Gilbert, she is survived by their daughter, Laura Marie Moyer, of Woolrich. Also surviving are two brothers, Dr. Rev. Cannon Robert A., Schiesler (Mary) of Mechanicsburg and Jeffry L. Schiesler (Billie) of Port Matilda, and a sister, Carole A. Rupert of Lock Haven, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, she was predeceased by a brother-in-law, Larry Rupert.
Rita was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Bellefonte. She was an avid golfer, and a member of the Mountain View Country Club. She also enjoyed attending craft shows and going to lunch with her friends.
Family and friends will be received on Monday, June 23, 2025, from 10:00AM until 11:00AM, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 134 E. Bishop Street, Bellefonte. Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00AM, at the church, with Father Joshi Narisetti officiating. Burial services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. in Bellefonte.
