Robert C. Shutica, 84, of State College, passed away on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at home. He was born on July 21, 1941, in Clarence, PA to the late Joseph Carl and Margaret (Biggans) Shutica. On June 27, 1964, he married his beloved wife Beverly A. (Haagen) Shutica, who survives at home. 

Robert was a 1959 graduate of Bald Eagle Area High School. After graduating, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps from 1959 to 1963. He served in the 1st Battalion, 8th Marines aboard the USS Forrestal as part of the Marine Detachment as his primary duty station. Upon discharge, he worked with his father as an owner-operator truck driver before moving to Virginia to become a Fairfax County police officer in 1972. He and his family returned to Pennsylvania where he worked again as a truck driver until joining the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission as a Safety Enforcement Officer until he retired in 2002. He came out of retirement to work for R.W. Bird’s Trucking, Inc. as part of their safety program until he retired again.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two daughters, Tracy Ray and her husband, Joe, of Zion and Heather Winck and her husband, Tim, of Zion, as well as two grandchildren, Cameron and Connor Ray. 

Robert was a member of the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Bellefonte. He loved reading westerns, traveling to USS Forrestal reunions, spending time with family and friends and especially loved going for coffee at many local spots around Bellefonte. 

Friends and Family will be received on Saturday, August 23, 2025, from 2-3 p.m. at Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc., 206 N. Spring Street Bellefonte. A memorial service will begin at 3pm with Deacon Tom Boldin officiating. Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
