Robert Daniel “Dan” Eberhart, 93, of Bellefonte passed away on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at Centre Care. Born June 21, 1931, he was the son of the late Walter R. Eberhart and Olive (Poorman) Eberhart. In addition to his parents, preceding him in death was his first wife, Donna Johnson Eberhart on October 16, 1972, after 42 years of marriage, and his second wife, Joann Benner Eberhart on May 1, 2021, after 22 years of marriage.
Dan was raised in the Bellefonte area. He worked with his father in Eberhart & Son Plumbing and Heating, taking over the business when his father retired. He was also a 59-year member of Local 520 Pipe Fitters. One of his first jobs as a youth was setting up pins at the bowling lanes in the YMCA.
Dan is survived by his children, Linda Yarnell (Steve) and Carol Spicer (Everett) of Bellefonte, and Sharon Barger (Rick) of Spring Mills. Also surviving are stepchildren, Lynn Johnson (Mark), Rose Ripka (Walt), Jackie Metropoulos (Matt), Bruce Benner and Beth Brunnhuber (Steve); seven grandchildren: Adam Yarnell of Centre Hall, Jeffrey Yarnell (Tracy) of Kuna, ID, Kelly Ronk (Matt Snyder) of Potter’s Mills, Todd Barger (Crystal) of Spring Mills, Tammy Ronk (Dale) of Spring Mills, Jessica Spicer, and Brian Spicer (Christina) of Bellefonte, and many great and great great grandchildren and step grandchildren.
He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Bellefonte. Additionally, he was a lifetime member of the NRA and Bellefonte Elks Lodge #1094 in Bellefonte. For 70+ years he enjoyed fishing, boating, and relaxing on the porch at the family cottage in Delta, Ontario, Canada.
Dan enjoyed hunting and being in the woods. In his early years, he hunted with his father and then at Buck Harbor Rod and Gun Camp. He especially enjoyed going to camp and hunting with his grandsons, Adam and Jeff. He and his special friend, Paul Boone, made deer hunting trips to Kentucky. Dan belonged to a bowling league for many years.
Family and friends will be received on Monday, February 10, 2025, from 10:00 – 11:00 AM, at Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc., 206 N. Spring Street, Bellefonte. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 AM, at the funeral home, with Rev. Andrew Morgan officiating. Burial services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
