Robert H. Cauffman, Sr., 86, of Bellefonte, PA, died on July 18, 2023 at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, PA. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. He was born in Norristown, PA on October 1, 1936 to Leroy and Sarah (Highley) Cauffman. He is survived by his wife, Francine M. Cauffman, his son, Robert H. Cauffman, Jr., his step-son, Michael S. Miller (Michaelann), and his sister, Audamay Johnson. He was predeceased by his two brothers, Theodore Cauffman and Howard Cauffman as well as his daughter, Elizabeth Jovonavic, and his step-daughter, Michele Donoher (Brian). He is survived by his five grandsons (Josh and Kyle Jovonavic, Brandon Higgins, Mason Cauffman, and Sean Donoher), as well as several nieces and nephews.
Robert graduated from Norristown High School (1954) and Ursinus College in Collegeville, PA, (1958). In May 1961 he graduated from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary and was ordained by the Presbytery of Philadelphia on September 14, 1961. Following his ordination, he was called as Minister to the Franklinville Presbyterian Church in Maryland. During his years of ministry, he served several congregations in the Philadelphia Presbytery. He joined the Huntingdon Presbytery in 1986 when he began serving as pastor to the yoked congregation of the Petersburg Bethel Presbyterian Church and the McAlevy’s Fort Presbyterian Church and later the Milesburg Presbyterian Church from which he retired in 2001.
Robert was a fan of the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles. He loved to play golf although he was unable to play for the past several years due to his health.
A memorial service will be held at the Petersburg Bethel Presbyterian Church, 5435 Bethel Road, Petersburg, PA on a date to be determined.
