Russell L. Tice, 92, of Julian, passed away on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at the Mount Nittany Medical Center in State College. Born on May 15, 1929, in Unionville, he was the son of the late Fred and Emily (Hall) Tice. On November 24, 1951, he married Della M. Smith, who preceded him in death on February 16, 2007.
Russell worked as a carpenter for Hanover Brands in Centre Hall, drove truck for Hawbaker’s until his retirement, and was also a farmer. He enlisted with the United States Army in March of 1951, during the Korean Conflict. Prior to his honorable discharge in 1954, he earned the rank of Corporal, and was awarded the National Service Defense Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
Russell was a member of the Liberty Township Sportsman’s Club. He loved to hunt and go on mountain rides. He enjoyed time spent around other people, especially family. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, making memories.
Russell is survived by two sons, Barry Tice and his wife, Connie, of Howard, and Timothy Tice, Sr of Kylertown; four daughters, Karen Taylor and her husband, Maurice, of South Carolina, Eva Weaver of Centre Hall, Donna Campbell of Bellefonte, and Joyce Snook and her husband, Mike, of Tennessee; 17 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. Also surviving are his brother, Nelson Tice of Runville; two sisters, Rebecca Musser of State College, and Faye Biggans and her husband, Andy, of Snow Shoe; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents and wife, Russell was preceded in death by two sons, Thomas Tice and Carl Tice, Sr; three son in-laws, Brad Luse, Roy Weaver, and Dennis Campbell; brothers, Melvin, Bruce, Stewart, Lester, Ralph, Foster, and Harold; and four sisters, Viola Tice, Lois Kerstetter, Helen Kitner, and Verna Peese.
A viewing will be held on Monday, January 24, 2022, from 10am-12noon at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home, Inc in Centre Hall. A funeral service will follow at 12noon with Pastor Fred Bennett officiating. Burial will take place at the Heckman Cemetery in Spring Mills.
