Shirley A. Stine, 86, of Port Matilda, entered into her eternal rest on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at the Graystone Manor at Bellmeade in Altoona. Born on February 28, 1937, in Port Matilda, she was the daughter of the late John and Sarah Ellen “Essie” (Williams) Shilling. On November 25, 1953, she married Walter L. Stine, who preceded her in death on September 2, 1976.

Shirley graduated high school in 1955. She began her career in food prep at the dining halls at Penn State University in 1961 and retired in 1991, after 30 years of service.

Shirley was a member of the Bald Eagle Baptist church. She liked to cook, crochet, and sew. Many that knew her would appreciate the enjoyment she got out of BINGO! She was known to travel to various bingos and to play 6 nights a week was common. She was a strong and fierce woman who loved her family more than anything.

Shirley is survived by her sons, Karl L. Stine and his wife, Melissa, of Port Matilda and Kirk A. Stine and his wife, Sherry, of Harrisburg; five grandchildren, Joshua Stine and his fiancé, Shana Silver, of Springfield, VA, Karly Stine and her fiancé, Sam Rippy, of Glen Mills, Alexis Alsamadi and her husband, Emad, of St. Louis, MO, Spencer Stine of Harrisburg, and Amy Schneble and her husband, Matt, of Leesburg, VA; her grandson in-law, Aaron Decker of Pleasant Gap; and three great grandchildren, Jonathon Decker, Ayra Decker, and Scott Schneble.

Along with her husband and parents, Shirley was preceded in death by two sons, Kenneth R. Stine and Keith W. Stine; and one granddaughter, Melissa Decker. She was also preceded in death by her three brothers, Samuel Shilling, Daniel “Clair” Shilling, and John “Stanley” Shilling and one sister, Maude Stiver, making Shirley the last of her generation.

Following Shirley’s wishes, all services will be private. She will be laid to rest next to her husband at Williams Cemetery in Julian.
