Shirley Ann (Rhoades) Walters, 80, of Milesburg, was received into the arms of her Savior Jesus, on Sunday, September 27, 2026, with her daughter, Robin Alters, and daughter by heart, Holly Mauck by her side.
Shirley lived a life seeking the heart of Jesus. Her faith and beliefs in God were the center of her life. She strived to give unconditional love and forgiveness. She always looked for the good in people.
Shirley, along with her husband, Don, attended Watermarke Church. Sundays were the day she looked forward to.
Shirley volunteered for many years at the Faith Center in Bellefonte. It was there she met two of her very favorite people, Joanie Lablanc and Janet Hall. The three of them became very close and experienced much fun and laughter throughout the years.
Shirley and her husband, Don, became familiar patrons of The Waffle Shop in Bellefonte, with Shirley’s most favorite breakfast of strawberry waffle with extra extra whipped topping!
Shirley enjoyed Friday lunches with her cousins, Pat and Bonnie. She also enjoyed the monthly luncheon with cousins from the Shay side of her family.
Shirley was born on May 18, 1946, to the late Ed (June) and Mary (Mame Shay) Rhoades. She married Donald E. Walters on March 13, 1964, who survives her at home. Shirley is survived by her children, Robin Alters of North Carolina, Todd Walters (Angie) of Milesburg, Jason Walters, and Dawn Velasquez; 17 grandchildren, to which two were waiting for her in Heaven; eight great grandchildren with one more expected to arrive in November; and a niece who was more of a daughter, Paula Rhoades. Also surviving is a sister, Gertrude Houser, and two brothers, Lou Rhoades (Zina) and Jeff Rhoades.
Shirley was proceded in death by her son, Doug Walters, son-in-law, Rod Alters, infant granddaughter, and a brother, Ed Rhoades.
Shirley was someone who touched many with her love and kindness and always let her faith shine for all to know Jesus.
Shirley leaves behind beautiful memories that will be treasured by all who knew and loved her. While her family and friends will miss her dearly, they are comforted in that she is completely healed and in the presence of her Savior Jesus.
