Susan (Dreese) Bathgate, 92, of State College, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 5, 2026. Born on June 5, 1934, in State College, she was the daughter of the late Ralph William and Mary (Struble) Dreese. On April 20, 1956, she married her beloved husband, John C. Bathgate, who preceded her in death on November 16, 2012, after sharing 56 years of marriage together.
Susan was a 1952 graduate of State College Area High School. While she was in high school, she worked for Weis Markets and later worked at Old Main. After she and John began building their family, she became a stay-at-home mom to dedicate her time to raising their three children. Later in life she worked in the cafeteria at Houserville Elementary School and at Wasson Insurance Agency for many years until her retirement.
She is survived by her daughters, LeAnn Lorenz (Eric) of State College, and Betsy Ferdock (Michael) of Hatfield; grandchildren, John James Bathgate, Jennifer Lorenz, Christina Fritz, and Melissa Ferdock, five great grandchildren, Chris Bathgate, Brook Roldan, Iree Lewis, Alexander and Emma Fritz and two great great grandchildren, Adrianna and John Colter.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her son, John David Bathgate, and a great grandson, John Robert Bathgate.
Susan was an active member of Spring Creek Presbyterian Church in State College.
She enjoyed looking after her grandchildren throughout the years and treasured the time spent with them.
A public graveside service will be held on Friday, July 10, 2026, at 12:00 PM, at Spring Creek Presbyterian Cemetery in State College. Arrangements are under the direction of Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. in Bellefonte.
