Victoria J. “Vickey” Ponist, 63, of Julian, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at the Embassy of Hearthside. Born on March 27, 1958, in Bellefonte, she was the daughter of the late Michael M. Ponist and Genevieve “Genny” (Walker) McCloskey formerly of Clarence.
Vickey was a 1976 graduate of Bald Eagle Area High School. She worked at Wegman’s in State College, retiring in 2019 after 15 years of service.
Vickey was a member of the Queen of Archangels Parish Church in Clarence. She enjoyed taking long walks, traveling, and being with her family.
Vickey is survived by her mother, Genny and her husband, Edward McCloskey Sr of Milesburg, one daughter, Nicole L. McCloskey, and her husband Edward, of Moshannon, two grandchildren: Travis and Alyssa, and one great granddaughter, Bella. She is also survived by her companion, Bill Corl of Lemont.
Along with her father, Vickey was preceded in death by a brother, Carl Ponist and a sister, Georgia Row.
Visitation will be on Monday, January 3, 2022, 9:30-1030am at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home in Snow Shoe. Funeral Mass will follow at 11am at the Queen of Archangels Parish Church in Clarence with Father Michael Wolfe officiating. Burial will be at St. Michaels Cemetery in Clarence.
