Virginia A. (Barnes) Moyer, 93, of Centre Hall, entered into her eternal rest on Saturday, May 6, 2023, in the comfort of her home. Born on September 17, 1929, in Barnesville, OH, she was the daughter of the late Charles T. and Gladys L. (Niesz) Barnes. On May 1, 1954, she married Bruce R. Moyer, who preceded her in death on January 21, 2016.

Virginia graduated high school in 1947. She began working as a seamstress at the Nittany Hosiery Finishers before it became Valley Manufacturing in 1969, locally referred to as the “Bra Factory”, a garment factory in Millheim, for more than 15 years before she retired in 1984.

Virginia was a member of the St. Lukes Lutheran Church in Centre Hall. When she was younger, she was an active Sunday School teacher and she loved participating in the quilting bees program at the church, until it became too difficult for her to continue with the quilting and sewing. She enjoyed working on crossword puzzles and loved putting together jigsaw puzzles. She would often be found admiring her husband, working hard, whether it was landscaping or tending to his gardens, it would bring a smile to her face. She enjoyed eating out and time spent with family. She especially enjoyed holiday meals and gatherings with loved ones. She was an outspoken yet kind woman, who loved to laugh and always thought of others first.

Virginia was always grateful to her neighbors. They were always checking in on her and looking out for her, helping in anyway they could. Their efforts and care did not go unnoticed or unappreciated by Virginia or her family. So thank you for all you have done for her over the years.

Virginia is survived by her son, Randall B. Moyer and his wife, Sharon, of Madisonburg; two grandchildren, Jillian Moyer and her husband, Jamie Hazel, of Muncy and Travis Moyer of Los Angeles, CA; one brother, Vernon Barnes of Batavia, OH; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents and husband, Virginia was preceded in death by two daughters, Shelley Mann in 1976 and Linda Moyer in 2010; one brother, Kenneth; and one sister, Lillian Rentz.

A viewing will be held on Friday, May 12, 2023, from 11am – 12noon at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home, Inc in Centre Hall with a funeral service immediately following at 12 noon with Rev. Rebecca Horn officiating. She will be laid to rest privately next to her husband at the Reformed & Lutheran Cemetery in Centre Hall.
