The online sports book Bovada has added a Nittany Lion to the mix as sophomore running back Saquon Barkley was named one of 22 potential Heisman winners with 75/1 odds.

Barkley was added to the list on Thursday afternoon despite being off the board for the previous three updates by the sports book. The standout back joins fellow Big Ten players Jabrill Peppers of Michigan at 12/1 and JT Barrett of Ohio State at 10/1.

While Barkley may have the longest odds of the bunch, he and everyone else in the nation will look to chase down LSU running back Leonard Fournette who leads the way with 4/1 odds alongside Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson.

Even if Barkley isn’t crowned the nation’s best player, it’s just another small acknowledgment of the budding superstar set to take the field this Saturday as the Nittany Lions face Kent State to start the 2016-17 season.

And the Nittany Lions? They’re at 300/1 odds to win the national title and 20/1 to win the Big Ten (7th best). So Joe Moorhead’s offense might be fun to watch, but it may not quite be time to lift up the mattress and count the bills out just yet.
