Penn State Hockey: Men’s Hockey Team To Host Midnight Practice This Week

Want to get the first glimpse at Penn State’s 2013 hockey team in action? You’ll have to stay up a little late on Friday night to do it.

For the second straight year the first practice of the season will be open to the public at midnight. This time on Friday Oct. 4 at the Pegula Ice Arena. Practice is open to the public and will be followed by a free public skate with the team after the practice.

Prior to the start of practice, each member of the Nittany Lions will be introduced and head coach Guy Gadowsky will address those in attendance. The practice will be the team’s first official session of the season as NCAA rules stipulate Oct. 5 as the first day for organized team practices.

“We’re looking forward to it,” Head coach Guy Gadwosky says. “I think last year we didn’t know what to expect. We had no idea. I believe we had something like 500 people come out to see it and then to skate with the team after so I think we’re really looking forward to it. This will be many of their first look at Pegula Ice Arena so it’s going to be a lot of fun and I think the guys will want to get it going.”
