Updated at 5:54 p.m. with comment from a DMV spokesperson.
The Rockview Driver License Center, 812 W. College Ave. in Pleasant Gap, is closed until further notice, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said on Thursday.
Department of Motor Vehicles community relations coordinator Alexis Campbell said the closure is needed to address ‘an HVAC issue related to air quality’ in the building. PennDOT expects the center to be closed for at least three weeks.
‘We felt that it was important to be proactive in this situation to mitigate any potential safety issues for customers or employees,’ Campbell said. ‘We anticipate that the site will be closed for approximately three weeks, but it may be longer, depending on what remedies are necessary.’
Anyone who would normally use the Rockview Driver License Center, including the photo center, is asked to use the Lewistown Driver License Center, 13187 Ferguson Valley Road in Yeagertown, or Selinsgrove Driver License Center, at 1015 Route 522 in Selinsgrove, until repairs are made and the Rockview center is reopened.
Hours have been modified at the Lewistown and Selinsgrove centers. Driver license center hours of operation at both will be 8:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Photo center hours will be 8:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. Monday through Saturday, with hours extended until 6 p.m. on Thursdays at Lewistown.
Customers scheduled for non-commercial driver license testing will be contacted and redirected to either the Lewistown or Selinsgrove center for tests. Commercial driver license testing will be redirected to Lewistown.
Campbell said advisories will be provided to keep customers updated.
‘We apologize for any inconvenience this creates for our customer,’ she said. ‘PennDOT is taking every step possible to remedy this issue as quickly as possible.’
