A portion of Interstate 80 in Centre County was closed for about six hours after a tractor-trailer fire on Friday morning.
Emergency crews responded at about 10 a.m. to mile marker 162 on I-80 eastbound in Marion Township, just past the Bellefonte exit, for a fully engulfed commercial vehicle.
I-80 eastbound was closed between Exit 161 at Bellefonte and exit 173 at Lamar until about 4 p.m. During that time, traffic was detoured off I-80 at the Bellefonte interchange and directed follow I-99 southbound to exit 83, then to take Route 550/Zion Road northbound to Route 64 northbound before reconnecting with I-80 eastbound at the Lamar interchange.
Walker Township, Citizen’s, Pleasant Gap, Logan, Undine and Howard fire companies and fire police from Bellefonte and Walker Township responded to the scene.
