A 28-year-old woman died after a crash involving a passenger vehicle and a UTV on Tuesday afternoon in Walker Township, according to Centre County Coroner Scott Sayers and state police at Rockview.
Anjelica Miele, of Mingoville, was driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee on the 400 block of Nittany Valley Drive/Route 64 near Marie Lane at about 4:30 p.m. when the driver of a Honda UTV, an 85-year-old Bellefonte man, crossed from a side road into her path and collided with Miele’s vehicle.
Miele swerved and struck a ditch on the southern side of the road, state police wrote in a news release. The Jeep then overturned multiple times in a field.
Miele was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene.
An autopsy is scheduled for Friday, according to Sayers.
The driver of the UTV and a passenger in the Jeep, a 26-year-old Mingoville woman, were taken to Mount Nittany Medical Center for minor injuries.
A GoFundMe has been created for Miele’s funeral expenses.
State police and the coroner’s office are investigating the crash.
Bellefonte, Pleasant Gap and Centre LifeLink EMS, Mount Nittany Ambulance, Walker Township, Undine and Logan fire companies, Bellefonte fire police and Rich’s Amoco also responded to the scene.
