Bellefonte is getting a Dunkin’.
The national coffee shop chain has leased space in the former Rite Aid building at 821 E. Bishop St., Kandy Weader of Bennett Williams, the commercial real estate agent for the property, wrote in a Facebook post on Thursday morning.
May Brands, which owns multiple Dunkin’ locations in Centre County, including the one on Benner PIke in nearby Benner Township, is the franchisee for the Bellefonte location. Weader told StateCollege.com that she estimated the new shop could open in late summer.
Dunkin’ will occupy an 1,848-square-foot space at the western corner of the building, where it will also have a pickup window, according to a layout of the planned multi-tenant redevelopment of the property presented to Bellefonte Borough Council in January.
It is the first tenant to be named for the development, which also includes space for 1,713-square-foot phone carrier store, 1,694-square-foot sandwich shop and a 1,920-square-foot space in a row at the front of the building. A fitness center is the largest component of the plan, encompassing 5,800 square feet at the rear half of the building.
The property has been empty since Rite Aid closed in late 2023. Cedar Cliff Properties acquired the 14,673-square-foot-building in October for $1.5 million.
Cedar Cliff Properties’ work in Centre County may provide a hint to one other future tenant’s identity. The LLC has been used in the development of Jersey Mike’s Subs locations in the State College area, and the national sandwich shop chain’s local franchisee, Matt Patterson, confirmed his involvement in the Bellefonte property acquisition to StateCollege.com in November
