Dick’s Sporting Goods is planning to relocate its State College area store to a new, larger building nearby in the same Patton Township plaza, according to the agenda for the township Planning Commission’s Jan. 12 meeting.
Colonnade owner Allied Properties, Inc., has submitted a sketch plan for a new 60,016-square-foot building on the vacant lot between Target and Kohl’s that would be the new home for the national sporting goods retailer’s store. The new building would double to space from Dick’s current location at 325 Colonnade Boulevard, which is 30,000 square feet, according the Colonnade site plan on Allied Properties’ website.
Dick’s is one of the original tenants of the 70-acre Colonnade, which opened in 2000 and has grown to include more than 20 businesses.
Dick’s Sporting Goods media relations did not immediately respond to a request for comment about the reason for the move or the anticipated timeline. It was also not clear if there are any immediate plans for the current Dick’s location after the store moves.
The sketch plan also includes three additional retail spaces totaling 15,545 square feet for unidentified tenants to be located between the new Dick’s store and Target — two at 4,729 square feet and one at 6,087 square feet.
Development of the proposed new building would will complete the remaining build-out in the original master site plan for the Colonnade approved in 1999, according to the agenda.

Allied Properties previously submitted plans in 2020 for five new retail buildings totaling 68,633 square feet on the same empty pad between Target and Kohl’s. Those plans were approved but never recorded and have since expired.
Sketch plans are voluntary and meant to garner feedback before a land development plan is submitted. The Patton Township Planning Commission is scheduled to review the sketch plan during its meeting at 4:30 p.m. on Monday in the municipal building. The meeting will also be available via Zoom and livestream C-NET’s YouTube channel.
The developers have requested to present the sketch plan to the Board of Supervisors at its Jan. 28 meeting, according to the Planning Commission agenda.
