Stuckey Automotive is expanding its presence in Centre County.

The Duncansville-based dealership group has purchased Joel Confer Ford of Bellefonte, 2892 Benner Pike, company president Matt Stuckey announced this week.

The new Stuckey Ford of Bellefonte will officially open on July 8 and joins Stuckey Mitsubishi, 150 Shiloh Road, which opened in 2020, as the company’s Centre County dealerships. It also operates Ford and Subaru dealerships in Hollidaysburg and a Buick-GMC dealership in Altoona.

Matt Stuckey said the agreement to buy the Ford dealership came about after a mutual friend introduced him and Confer.

“This introduction is one for which I’ll always be grateful. We were gifted an opportunity to grow our brand in Centre County,” Stuckey said in a statement. “It’s humbling when a man like Joel trusts that you’ll care for his business and customers as you would your own. We should all be so lucky to meet a Joel Confer in life.”

The Confer family will continue to operate Joel Confer Ford and Joel Confer Toyota in State College.

“I have to applaud Matt and his team,” Confer said. “As exciting as it is to watch their company grow, it appeases me even more to know they’ll do right by our employees and our community.”

All of the nearly two dozen employees of Joel Confer Ford have been recruited to join the Stuckey organization, general sales manager Matt Meiser said.

A grand opening and ribbon cutting for Stuckey Ford of Bellefonte will be held in the fall.

Stuckey also is planning to expand its Mitsubishi dealership in College Township. The company announced in April that it is purchasing the Centre Daily Times building at 3400 E. College Ave. and intends to move all of its Mitsbushi sales, parts and service operations there from Shiloh Road.
