A Grammy Award-winning pop rock duo will headline a benefit concert next month in support of the State College Food Bank.
A Great Big World will perform at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 8 at The State Theatre in State College for the inaugural “A Great Big Fight to End Hunger.”
Presented by Valhalla Business Advisors, the show will bring together supporters and neighbors for an evening of music with all proceeds directly supporting the State College Food Bank’s mission of providing food security to individuals and families in need.
“We’re thrilled to welcome A Great Big World to State College,” Allayn Beck, executive director of the State College Food Bank, said in statement. “Their uplifting music and heartfelt storytelling are the perfect way to bring our community together. And we’re deeply grateful to Valhalla Business Advisors for stepping up as our presenting sponsor. Their generosity helps make this event possible and ensures more of the proceeds go directly toward feeding our neighbors in need.”
Formed in New York by singer/songwriters Ian Axel and Chad King in 2011, A Great Big World has become known for uplifting and radio-friendly hits like “Say Something” featuring Christina Aguilera, which won the 2015 Grammy for Best Pop Duo/Group performance, and “Hold Each Other.”
They released the new EP “then there were sparks,” and its title single earlier this year, and their latest single, “Away We Go” dropped on Aug. 1 to coincide with the start of the duo’s tour supporting Rob Thomas.
Tickets for “A Great Big Fight to End Hunger” are $51 and are on sale now through The State Theatre website.
