The Penn State Anime Organization (PSAO) will host its 15th annual “Setsucon” convention this weekend.
The annual event will be held online Saturday and Sunday and will “celebrate anime, gaming and cosplay.” Traditionally, the event would have been held in Altoona back in January. But because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the event has been moved online on a different date.
Setsucon, which is free an open to all, will still have the same events that would happen at an in-person convention, including panels with voice actors, video game tournaments, live music and more. Notably, Sarah Natochenny, best known as the voice behind “Pokémon” star Ash Ketchum, will be featured at the conference.
The convention seeks “to celebrate all things anime, manga, gaming, cosplay, and Japanese culture.”
The convention started in 2007 in State College and moved to Altoona in 2018 as it continued growing. Since its founding, Setsucon has grown into one of the largest annual anime conventions in Pennsylvania and is expecting 3,000 to 5,000 viewings throughout the weekend.
Setsucon will be streamed on Twitch. More information about the convention can be found here.
