The Centre County Historical Society will host its 29th Annual Plant Celebration on Saturday, May 17 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Centre Furnace Mansion, 1001 E. College Ave., State College.
Since 1996, the event has become a local tradition, offering a community gathering of plant enthusiasts and garden lovers to buy plants, learn from experts, explore the mansion grounds and enjoy refreshments, with proceeds from the sale supporting the the gardens and grounds of the Centre Furnace Mansion and Boogersburg School.
The Plant Celebration features a sale of native and non-native plants prepared by the Centre Furnace Mansion Gardeners and local and regional growers. Herbs, annuals, perennials, trees, shrubs and garden-related items will be available for purchase.

Bring your garden questions, plant samples or identification questions for Penn State Cooperative Extension Master Gardeners of Centre County, who will be on hand throughout the event the Plant Celebration.
A book sale in the mansion’s Hearth Room will offer local history and gently used garden books for sale.
Coffee, tea and baked goods will be available for purchase from Standing Stone Coffee Company from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The day will also serve as an open house, with Centre Furnace Mansion, its grounds and the gardens open for visitors to explore.
Event parking is available on the lower lawn along College Avenue, as well as in the Mansion lot off of Porter Road. Parking is not permitted in front of Frye’s Sweeper and Sewing Center.
