Centre LifeLink will celebrate National EMS Week May 15-21 with several public events highlighting different aspects of emergency medical services.
This year’s EMS Week theme is “Rising to the Challenge.”
“The EMS Week campaign supports and strengthens the EMS community by honoring accomplishments and increasing awareness of the critical role of EMS,” according to a Centre LifeLink news release.
May 17 will be Safety Tuesday with a free community CPR class at 6 p.m. at Centre LifeLink, 125 Puddintown Road. The class teaches the lifesaving skills of adult, child and infant CPR and AED use. It allows participants to have hands on practice led by skilled American Heart Association instructors. Register for the free class online.
EMS for Children Day is scheduled for May 18. Centre LifeLink personnel will be visiting local preschools to show the ambulance and explain what EMS providers do in the community.
For National Stop the Bleed Day on May 19, Centre LifeLink EMS and the Pennsylvania Military Museum will partner to present a hands-on Stop the Bleed program at 9 a.m. at the Military Museum site, 51 Boal Avenue in Boalsburg. The course is open to anyone, but because of limited space, this first program will be limited in attendance. To reserve a space in the class, email Training@centrelifelink.com.
Centre LifeLink also will be celebrating EMS Week internally by providing meals for its crews throughout the week.
