A drive-in bingo fundraiser event will benefit the Centre Region Active Adult Center to help support its operations as it continues to rebuild after pandemic-related closures.
“Beep Beep Bingo” will be held on Friday, July 29 at the John Hess Softball Complex on Route 45 near Shingletown, according to a news release. Gates open at 5:30 p.m., with early-bird bingo starting at 6 p.m. and regular bingo at 7 p.m. The rain date is Sunday, July 31.
Registration is $15 per vehicle, regardless of how many people, and includes a book of 10 bingo cards with 6 games per card. Additional bingo books will be available for purchase, along with early-bird game books at $5 per book.
Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
Participants will play from inside their vehicles, listening to the numbers through the radio, or they can set-up lawn chairs outside their vehicles and listen through the sound system. Runners will dispatch when they hear the “beep beep” of a car horn or the call of “Bingo.”
Early bird games include cash and prizes and regular bingo games are all cash prizes.
Raffle and 50/50 tickets also will be sold, with raffle prizes will awarded during intermission and the 50/50 drawing after the final bingo game. Stuckey Automotive is the lead sponsor for the vent and additional prizes have been donated by Christine’s Hallmark, Confer’s Jewelers, Rural King, Lowe’s, Axemann Brewing, University Wine Company, Wegman’s Ville Billy’s, Good Scent’s Candle Co., The Pet Pub, Robin Hood Brewing Co. and Weaver’s Store.
Centre Region Parks and Recreation’s Rec On The Go truck will be on-site with yard games available throughout the evening.
Advanced registration online is requested but not required and the registration fee can be paid at the gate. Organizers recommend arriving early to allow enough time for entry and purchasing bingo cards and water or soda available for purchase.
Operated by Centre Region Parks and Rec under the oversight of the Centre County Office of Aging, the Active Adult Center provides programs and activities for seniors age 55 and older. It offers daily meal services, health and fitness activities, a line-dancing club, hiking club, drop-in and member card and board games, resource materials and educational seminars and outings, among other programs.
The center faced a challenging time when it was closed for an extended period because of the COVID-19 pandemic then operated on limited hours.
Proceeds from “Beep Beep Bingo” will support meal expenses, program and activity supplies and equipment and funds for center improvements.
