Ferguson Township will welcome the community to an Arbor Day celebration on Saturday.
The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Haymarket Park. It will feature family-friendly activities including a tree planting ceremony, bucket truck rides, a tree walk, tree seedling giveaways, arts and crafts, community partner displays and a self-guided bike tree tour.
Light refreshments also will be available.
The theme for this year’s celebration is “Healthy Trees, Healthy Township,” highlighting the vital role trees play in creating a sustainable, vibrant community, according to the township.
“A designated Tree City USA community and home to abundant green spaces and woodlands, Ferguson Township is committed to preserving the environment,” the township wrote in a news release. “The township’s dedication to trees—critical for clean air, wildlife habitat, and enhancing the beauty of the area—is reflected in this special event, aimed at promoting tree planting and care.”
