BELLEFONTE — Fifteen Centre County fifth-graders were honored by the Centre County Recycling and Refuse Authority on Nov. 15, America Recycles Day, for their entries in the poster contest, “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Read.”
Of the hundreds of entries received, the committee selected the following students’ submissions as winners: Ally Duncan, Gray’s Woods Elementary School; Blake Wheeler, Wingate Elementary School; Cedric Bagwell, Benner Elementary School; Emily Lovrak, Pleasant Gap Elementary School; Emma Haagen, Marion Walker Elementary School; Erika Lucas, Philipsburg-Osceola Middle School; Hannah Rose Craig, Our Lady of Victory; Isabel Olson, Gray’s Woods Elementary School; Jade Brown, Pleasant Gap Elementary School; Lillian Hodges, Centre Learning Community Charter School; Madison Stimer, Port Matilda Elementary School; Marinn Peters, Penns Valley Intermediate School; Poppy Rusca, Park Forest Elementary School; Sena Andrews, Mountain Top Elementary School; and Taylor Brown, Marion Walker Elementary School.
Winners took home framed copies of their posters, gift certificates for their schools and 2018 calendars made from the posters. The calendars are free to anyone at five local Weis Markets stores. Calendars will be given to all fifth graders in Centre County in December.
