With less than a week to go until Halloween, communities across Centre County are gearing up for another action-packed holiday full of trick-or-treating.
From Boalsburg to Bellefonte, here’s what you can expect in the Centre Region as All Hallow’s Eve approaches.
Trick-or-Treating
Trick-or-treating is back in full swing this year. Here’s a breakdown of official trick-or-treat times throughout the Centre Region:
- Saturday, Oct. 29 from 6 to 8 p.m.

Halloween Events
Penn State All-Sports Museum Trick or Treat
6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 25
Head to Penn State’s All-Sports Museum, located outside Beaver Stadium, to meet student-athletes and stock up on candy. The 13th annual trick-or-treating is free, although donations to the museum are appreciated. Non-perishable food donations will benefit Penn State’s Lions Pantry food shelter.
Greek-or-Treat
5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct, 26
Penn State fraternities and sororities will host their annual Greek-or-Treat starting at the intersection of Fraternity Row and East Fairmont Avenue. The event will feature music, food, yard games and trick-or-treating at participating houses, and Carter’s Table will be on site with food options. Greek-or-Treat is free and open to all.
Community Trunk-Or-Treat at Juniper Village
4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 27
Community members are invited to enjoy refreshments and a safe trunk-or-treat at Juniper Village at Brookline, 1950 Cliffside Drive, State College. Participants are asked to decorate their vehicle with a theme – spooky or silly, enchanting or eerie, magical or macabre – and open their trunk for local trick-or-treaters, or simply bring your family to trick-or-treat. Palmer Museum Art After Hours: 4th Annual Halloween Spectacular
5 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 27
From 5 to 8 p.m., Penn State’s Palmer Museum of Art will host a mysterious night of spooky adventures completely with “ghostly games, monster music and other fiendish fun.” Attendees who register in a costume contest by 7 p.m. can win prizes and receive some extra candy. Costumes will be judged separately for adults and children under 15.
Haunted Flashlight Maze
7 to 10 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 27 and Friday, Oct. 28
Harner Farm, located at 2191 W. Whitehall Road in State College, will harken the Halloween spirit with a themed maze for all ages. The farm, in partnership with Penn State’s Delta Zeta sorority, invites guests to explore the maze and chow down on hot dogs, cider and cocoa. Those brave enough to enter the maze could even encounter a few spooky monsters.
Tickets cost $10, and guests must enter the maze no later than 9 p.m. each night. This event is BYOF — Bring Your Own Flashlight, of course.
Proceeds from Harner Farm’s Halloween-themed maze will benefit the Starkey Hearing Foundation, the American Society for Deaf Children and Penn State’s Office of Student Disabilities: Speech and Hearing.

Stranger State Haunted House
8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 27 and 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 28
Two Penn State clubs will host a haunted house on the university’s campus — this time themed to match Netflix’s smash hit, “Stranger Things.” The Forensic Science Club and Theme Park Engineering Group annually present their haunted house at the cottages near Penn State’s Boucke and Chemistry buildings.
Tickets for the haunted house cost $4.99 and are available at the door. Proceeds will benefit the H.E.A.R.T Foundation and Give Kids The World Village.
YMCA Trunk-or-Treat
5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 28
State College YMCA is partnering with the Youth Service Bureau to host a trunk-or-treat event free to the public. Stop by with the family to enjoy activities, games and treats from local community organizations.
The event will set up on the YMCA’s parking lot near the hockey rink. Parking is available at the South Hills lot.

Haunted Lodge & Costume Party
5:30 p.m. on Friday, October 28
Tussey Mountain’s annual Halloween costume party will bring a night of haunted fun to the resort’s lodge at 301 Bear Meadows Road in Boalsburg. Guests of all ages are invited to stop by in costume and snack on hors d’oeuvres, warm up by the fire pits or crack open a cold one at the cash bar. DJ Elbow Knee Knee of Gorinto Productions will crank up some tunes with a “spooky party soundtrack,” too.
General admission tickets are required for all guests, including kids, starting at $5.

Terror in Transylaniva: An Interactive Murder Mystery Party
Friday, Oct. 28
The Speakeasy at Gamble Mill in Bellefonte will host an inaugural murder mystery costume party for guests 21 and older. Attendees can mingle, question suspects and ultimately try to crack the case from 6:30 to 10 p.m.
Advanced tickets purchased before Oct. 21 will run you $55 per person, while regular tickets purchased between Oct. 22 and 27 will fetch $60 apiece. Tickets cover admission, appetizers, desserts and non-alcoholic drinks, access to a silent auction and entrance to a costume contest. A cash bar is available if guests wish to purchase alcoholic drinks.
Tickets are available online, although supply is limited. Proceeds will benefit the Sock & Buskin Theatre Co.

Trick or Trot 5K
9 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29
Bellefonte YMCA’s fourth annual Trick or Trot 5K will help community members get active this Halloween weekend. The race, in partnership with Big Spring Spirits, will present free t-shirts and cocktails (for those 21 and older) to anyone who completes the course.
The course will begin at the YMCA’s main building before ending at Big Spring Spirits at 198 Match Factory Place. Runners will start the race in the front, followed by joggers and walkers in the back.
All participants must sign a waiver before participating in the race. Parking is available at Big Spring Spirits or the YMCA’s parking lot.
Registration fees are as follows:
- $35 for adult YMCA members
- $45 for adult non-members
- $15 for ages 12 to 17
- Free for ages 11 and under

Talleyrand Fall Fest & Halloween Parade
Saturday, Oct. 29
From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Bellefonte Sunrise Rotary will host the annual Talleyrand Fall Fest and Halloween Parade. The parade will begin at Bellefonte Elementary School at 10:30 a.m. before winding through Bellefonte and ending at the park, where winners will receive prizes.
The festival will feature children’s games and activities, including inflatables and hayrides. Adults can test out craft beverages and dine on offerings from local food vendors, too.

‘Hole’-aween at Walker Clubhouse
1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 30
Penn State Golf Courses will host a Halloween-themed golf event for kids ages 6 to 11 on Sunday, Oct. 30. The afternoon hopes to help increase participants’ golk knowledge while getting into the Halloween spirit.
The “Hole”-aween event is free and includes snacks, and no prior golf experience is necessary, although kids are encouraged to bring their own clubs and dress up in costumes. Parents, meanwhile, are encouraged to drop off their kids to have fun on their own.

Trunk-or-Treat
3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 30
Christ Community Church, located at 200 Ellis Place in State College, will host community members for an afternoon filled with games, family-friendly fun and treats. Those in attendance can enjoy bounce houses, hop on a hayride or chow down on apple cider and candy. A DJ will provide live music, while local food trucks Rebelz Mobile Cuisine and Real Taste 570 will offer up their own food.
The trunk-or-treat event is free and open to all community members. Costumes are encouraged but not required.

State College Alliance Church Harvest Fest
3 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 30
State College Alliance Church will host a fall festival just before Halloween rolls around. Head to 1221 W. Whitehall Road to enjoy food from Brazilian Munchies, goods from local vendors, live music, family-friendly games and inflatables and candy, of course.
The festival will also include bonfires complete with s’mores. The church is still looking for volunteers and for help acquiring portable fire pits for the afternoon.

Halloween Costume Parade
6:30 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 30
Join Centre Region Parks and Recreation volunteers for a Halloween parade in downtown State College. The 74th annual parade will include costume judging in seven unique categories and offer cash prizes and candy treats to the best dressed.
The parade’s line-up begins at 6:30 p.m. on Fraser Street between College Avenue and Martin Luther King Jr. Plaza. At 7 p.m., the parade will begin and wind throughout State College before finishing at State College High School’s Memorial Field.

Living Hope Alliance Church of Bellefonte’s Trunk-or-Treat
6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 31
Those in need of a break from door-to-door trick-or-treating can head to Living Hope Alliance Church of Bellefonte, 321 E. Howard St., for a trunk-or-treat event. All you’ll need to bring is a bag and a costume.
