With most school districts not having school on Oct. 17, Jana Mare Foundation will offer a JAM (Jana’s Art and Music) Session for all kids in grades 2 through 5 that day at St. Mark Lutheran Church Snydertown, 850 Snydertown Road, Howard.
The free program from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. will include lunch.
JAM Sessions share themes and messages around building self-confidence and developing healthy relationships through the use of creative expression. Participants will express themselves through movement and art, while learning to work together and support one another.
Art, music, and creative expression are lifelong sources of resilience, self-confidence and happiness, according to the foundation Participants will have the opportunity to expand their creative thinking and mental well-being by expressing themselves in a unique, hands-on, experiential program.
By exploring topics that embrace diversity, compassion, self-expression and empathy, students will equip themselves with tools necessary to build and maintain relationships and learn healthy coping skills. Each session will focus on a different theme that allows participants to creatively reflect on their past, envision their future, and appreciate their present.
