A parade and festival on Saturday will highlight State College Pride’s fifth year of celebrating community and inclusion.

Hosted by Centre LGBT+, the festivities will kick off at 10 a.m. with the parade making its way through downtown on South Allen Street, West College Avenue and South Burrowes Street.

Jacob Kelley, also known as Trixy Valentine, is this year’s grand marshal. Kelley is the founder and CEO of Mx. Kelley Queer Education LLC, a trailblazing educator and LGBTQIA+ consultant who champions inclusive leadership and rural queer visibility.

“As Trixy Valentine, they’ve brought joy and affirmation to communities through powerful drag performances and advocacy recognized across the state and beyond,” Centre LGBT+ wrote in a news release.

The festival kicks off at noon at Sidney Friedman Park on South Fraser Street, where Kelley will be among the guest speakers, joining Lt. Gov. Austin Davis, State College Mayor Ezra Nanes, state Rep. Paul Takac and and PA Youth Congress Executive Director Jason Goodman Landau.

Entertainment at the festival, which continues until 4 p.m., will include drag performances by State Queens, hoop artist Jamie Lee, knife juggling by Capvara, poet Jay Orlando, Mr. C’s Magic & Mystery and indigenous performer and educator Patrick Littlefoot Brooks and Family.

Food trucks scheduled to be on hand are Classic Cones, Rebelz, Brazilian Munchies, J&D’s Cheesesteak, Kona Ice, Real Taste 570, Good Day Cafe and Rumba & Soul.

“Join us for a day that uplifts every voice, celebrates every identity, and builds a brighter, more inclusive Centre County for all,” Centre LGBT+ wrote. “Whether you’re marching, performing, speaking or showing support—your presence matters.”
