State College Downtown Rotary’s Ice Cream Fest Returns to Benefit Local Nonprofits

Community members can enjoy some ice cold treats while supporting local nonprofits on Saturday in downtown State College.

The State College Downtown Rotary Club’s annual Ice Cream Fest will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the 200 block of South Allen Street.

Tickets will be $5 for 5 tickets or $20 for 25 tickets. Samples will be provided by Pelican’s SnoBalls, Vale Wood Farms, Wegmans, Trader Joe’s, Ritchey’s Dairy, Meyer Dairy Store, Cold Stone Creamery and Sunset Slush Happy Valley.

Proceeds will benefit local nonprofits through the Rotary’s annual grant distribution.

During the festival, kids can meet Daniel Tiger from PBS Kids courtesy of WPSU from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.. The first 250 kids will receive a book from Daniel as well.

Football players from State College and Penns Valley also will be competing in a Dilly Bar Eating Contest at 1 p.m., which is sponsored by State College Dairy Queen. 

Penn State men’s and women’s basketball players will be on hand starting at 1 p.m.

Other events at the festival include a live radio broadcast from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., face painting from 1 to 3 p.m. and balloon animals, pinewood derby races and kazoo making all day.
