Whether you’re seeking calm among the trees, movement under the sun or moments of connection with other nature lovers, ClearWater Conservancy’s Centred Outdoors program offers an inspiring invitation to step outside and recharge. Now in its ninth season, the beloved wellness and adventure series has returned for 2025, bringing a full lineup of free outdoor events designed to nurture your mind, body and soul.
The season officially began the week of Sunday, May 4, at the serene Colerain Forges Mansion Estate, a conservation property that sets the tone for the months ahead with guided hikes and a soul-soothing outdoor yoga session. Events will run through October, welcoming individuals of all ages and fitness levels to explore more than two dozen scenic destinations across Centre and surrounding counties.
From May through August, guided outings will be held every Sunday at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., and on Thursdays at 6 p.m. In the fall, Sunday outings will continue at 11 a.m., offering a peaceful start to the week ahead.
Midweek offers another special time to relax with Wellness Wednesdays, which focuses on mindfulness practices, forest therapy walks and gentle movement designed to help participants slow down and reconnect with themselves. These events take place through August at the week’s featured destination, with autumn sessions continuing at Rhoneymeade Arboretum through mid-October.
This year also introduces Fresh Air Walks, which offer a brisk and easy lunchtime strolls through three parks in State College. Tailored for busy people looking to take a mindful break and de-stress, these relaxed loops are a lovely opportunity to reset your day, get your steps in and share a smile with a friend (or make a new one).
In total, the 2025 season spans 26 locations, from community favorites like Tom Tudek Memorial Park to more adventurous trails in Rothrock State Forest, Bilger’s Rocks and Bald Eagle State Park. Activities include nature walks, yoga, interpretive hikes and even forest therapy, all of which are geared toward nurturing your well-being in a supportive, inclusive environment.
To help make nature accessible for all, ClearWater Conservancy offers free transportation to select outings, a gear library for those who need equipment and Jr. Naturalist Toolkits for families. Plus, every Sunday features a chance to win a free pair of Darn Tough socks, courtesy of Appalachian Outdoors.
All Centred Outdoors events are free and open to the public. For schedules, updates and registration, visit centredoutdoors.org.
